parts of new york and new jersey are dealing with gas rationing. in new york city and on long island, odd-even rationing started just yesterday. the storm knocked out power to hundreds of gas stations resulting in long lines at the pump and over in new jersey, the governor is considering lifting the gas rationing now, a dozen counties have been under odd-even rationing for a week already. >> thousands of evacuees also in new jersey are calling a tent city home. something you wouldn't expect to see in our country. but the storm's victims as well as utility and rescue workers and military and volunteers even they are seeking shelter in the make ship neighborhoods and i don't have to tell you it's bitter cold and some are set up at a race track parking lot and evacuees complaining about sleeping in the cold tents, lack of bathroom facilities and limited shower areas, more than 100,000 people in new jersey are still without power and offered the government a prison for folks to move in with their families and all of this after sandy ripped up the shore. shore. >> and now to the on

gaza taking a new and dramatic attorney when a rocket from gaza targeted the holy city of jerusalem for the first time in four decades. men, women, and children took shelter in homes and businesses. the sigh republicans wailed. israeli police say the missile landed outside the city. jerusalem is also home to hundreds of thousands of palestinians. air sirens in tel aviv, wailed for the second day after rockets passed that city. in response the israeli military reports they are now closing three roads that lead to or border along gaza. sources tell reuters the army has asked the government for the green light to shore up 75,000 reserve troops. ahead of a potential ground invasion of gaza, the deadly airstrike campaign continues. at the height a spokesman said the military conducted one strike every five minutes. officials suggest a truce is possible ending the violence that has killed dozens. the israeli president said today and i quote, "it is not our intention to go to war. we are hopeful this operation will not take a minute more than required." david lee is live along the israel b

we should mention. we have the city manager of long beach, new york, a big commuter town to the city of manhattan and one particularly hit hard by superstorm sandy. jack, how much of an impact is this snowstorm on top of everything else here you're having to deal with? >> hi, jenna. yeah we took a huge punch from superstorm sandy last week. it knocked out our critical infrastructure, our water, our sewer and power. this week an unprecedented five, six inches of --. jenna: we'll see if we can get jack back. he was mentioning some of the infrastructure problems that the city is going through. i assume he is probably talking to us on his cell phone. sometimes that can be a problem. i was chatting with jack during the break, i said wow of all the fatigue. jack is back with us. jack we lost you mid-sentence there. you were saying saw unprecedented level of five to six inches of snow and infrastructure being affected. pick up from there. where is your community today as far as any state of recovery? >> sure. you know, in superstorm sandy we lost our water, our sewer and power and our gas.
